South Africa racehorse buyers’ paradise : Pacific Trade(r) on the rise

4yr old Pacific Trader (Sail from Seattle (CAN) – Agbalat (GB)) stamped himself as an emerging player on the SA circuit this afternoon with a superb win in the 7th race over 1km (57.78sec) at Kenilworth on magic green carpet. Although it was just an unlisted Pinnacle race it was packed full of Group 1 and stakes winners and he wiped them all with the greatest of ease. Back in clear second was another promising A-lister on the climb in Kasimir, who simply found one much better on the day but still beat everything else.

Pacific Trader is yet another top-class performer to emerge from the high-yielding ten to twenty grand (US$) price range in South Africa, selling for US$10 400 (R150k current exchange rate) at the 2016 CTS select yearling sale.

He is now a 4x time winner from 9x starts and on the rise in the right place at the right time. Overlooking his disappointing trip to KZN last season he’s never finished further back than 2nd in his career and is a shining example of the incredible value on offer to the world from South Africa the international racehorse nursery.

What’s he worth today? Expect to pay in the region of US$200k | HK$1.6mil | ZAR3mil upwards to take a horse like this overseas and race for the big stakes paydays.. and he’ll be worth it. #SA bred – world’s best value
